Education and Training
Health Sector Health is fundamental to all human beings regardless of their physical and mental presentation. In the year 2021, was a relief to us after undergoing through challenges of Covid-19 lockdowns during the previous year which resulted into working remotely. Vines Kenya focused on adolescent sexual reproductive health for the girls aged 15-19 years with a view of reducing teen pregnancies, promoting access to palliative care services and information in rural areas, mental health advocacy and management, prevention advocacy campaigns on communicable and non-communicable diseases among other health emerging issues such as Covid-19, training of vocal persons as community health providers and female genital mutilation prevention advocacy as harmful unhealthy practice to the health of young women. This events were carried out in ten county assembly wards of Kisii County. Further, Vines Kenya managed to strengthen the health care systems through training of health care workers and supply of essential commodities.

  • Sector Strategic objectives

  • 1. Sustained reduction of early pregnancies by 20% among adolescent girls aged 15-24 in Kisii County in collaboration with the Ministry of Health by end of the year 2021.

    2. Increased access to palliative care information, services and management to people with palliative care needs in rural areas by 15% through integration of palliative care in HIV clinics in Kisii County by end of the year 2021.

    3. Scale up advocacy and awareness campaigns on prevention of communicable and non-communicable illnesses including other emerging health issues by 10% among the general population by end of the year 2021.

    4. Strengthen health care systems by 10% through training, supply of essential equipment and commodities with more focus to rural health care centres by end of the year 2021

  • Sector Achievements

    Vines Kenya was able to make grater achievements after implementing the highlighted activities above as below;

    -In adolescent sexual reproductive health targeting girls aged 15-19 years, a total of 100 mobilizers were recruited and trained to offer enrollment of the girls and offer successful referral services. 15 clinics were contracted to offer Tiko project and 30 service providers trained on service provision to the girls. At the end of the year 2021, a total of 15,696 girls were enrolled and 15,480 were able to take the services successfully.

    -Palliative care services and information has so increased in rural poor places and sustained reduction of pain and care for people with palliative care needs.

    -Prevention advocacy campaigns on mental health and management, communicable and non-communicable diseases, emerging health issues Covid-19 and female genital mutilation has been strengthened in 11 sub-counties of Kisii County.

    -In strengthening health care systems, in public health facilities has been met and over 120 health care workers trained, 30 public health facilities supplied with PPEs in the 11 sub-counties.
